The Girl Scouts of Nassau County, NY, and DHL Express at Kennedy Airport in NYC, both combine their resources to get donated boxes of Girl Scout cookies to our Troops overseas.
The event started at Girl Scout Headquarters
In Garden City, NY, there was quite a crowd by 10am on 17 April. Soon, Bagpipers began to play as the colors were presented. Then dignitaries spoke, including Joe Lotz, Director of DHL’s Kennedy Airport Gateway; Ben Thompson, former Commander of the NY State VFW; and Alan Krutchkoff, President of Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon.
Then they formed a line and began transferring cookie boxes from a trailer to the DHL truck to bring to Kennedy Airport.
There was great pageantry, with the Girl Scouts, Bagpipers, County Dignitaries, DHL executives and police of all kinds, including NY State Troopers, Nassau County Mounted Police, Motorcycle Police and Soldiers from the nearby Armory.
