Note for Ryan – 16 Sept

On 29 August we had a special Memorial Gold Star pack in honor of our Fallen. A Gold Star wife and son were a huge part of the event and the 7-yr-old, Ryan, made a note for each box and helped pack. This is a response from one of our Adoptees:

“Dear Lemm Family- We received your package through Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon. Thank you so much! We appreciate you thinking of us and for continuing to share your story. We read about the recent street dedication for TSgt Lemm and are so glad that his amazing contributions and your family’s sacrifices have been honored in such an enduring way. Ryan, I want to thank you specially for the hand written note! It means a lot to us. Many of us have children around your age back home, so receiving notes like this are very close to our hearts. We took a picture specifically to thank you for your kindness.

Thank you for your kindness and your sacrifice. May God bless you and your loved ones. With endless respect, BARBARA”

“Hello Ryan,

I am a soldier currently serving in Syria, I am from Lincoln, Ne I wanted to say thank you for the care package you sent me and my friends over here, I did not know your dad, But he sounds like a very wonderful man and someone to be very proud of. We have a board here where I am and I will be putting your letter and the Patch “Adopt-A-Soldier Platoon” on this board for every soldier that comes here will see and know your name and your dad’s name. I also want you to know I have a son named Ryan also he is 12 years old. I hope he grows up to be as thoughtful and caring as you are. I know your dad is very proud of you. I wish you all the happiness the world can bring you and your mom.

Thanks again, Your friend Rusty”

Summer Pack Response – 5 Sept

On 29 August we had a special Memorial Gold Star pack in honor of our Fallen. A Gold Star wife and son were a huge part of the event and the 7-yr-old, Ryan, made a note for each box and helped pack. This is a response from one of our Adoptees:

Good evening,
On Sep 5th 2018, we here at USS Harry S. Truman CVN 75 received one of your care packages on behalf of Christine and Ryan Lemm. We read the letter that Ryan had made, and it touched all our hearts on board this great vessel. We all here on HST greatly appreciate the work that Adopt-a-Soldier does for our Vets. All our thoughts and prayers are with all the wounded warriors that this great organization does. The contents were very delicious, but the letter from Ryan and the pamphlet that came with it help make what we do, the sacrifices we make, all worth it. Keep up the great work that you do.
Very Respectfully, Robert

“Ryan,
I am Gabrielle from (unit redacted) and we are deployed with the USS Harry S. Truman. On behalf of my junior sailors and myself I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to think about those who are away from their families and send goodies. My favorite thing was the note, which is proudly hanging on the wall in our office! This kind gesture really made the day for my people. They are my kids out here, so seeing smiles on their faces puts a smile on mine.!!

Also, as a proud New Yorker, I appreciate the sacrifice your dad made not just for our country but for the state of New York. And I also want to thank you and your mom for the sacrifices you both have made. BIG THANK YOU from the crew!

Very Respectfully, Gabrielle”

“Ryan,
Thank you for the wonderful gift boxes you surprised us with. Your touching letter brought tears to my eyes. I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad is a hero to so many. My father passed away this year and I always feel that he is by my side. I hope you feel the same way, because whether or not you feel your father’s presence, I promise you, he is there with you in all that you do.

My boys are named Rudie and Beau. They are very special to me just as you are very special to your dad. They’re only 4 and 10 months old, but they are amazing little guys. Thank you for your story. I will always cherish my time with my sons. Have a great day! All the best young man, Ronnie”
